Start by keeping your driveway clear of debris, particularly leaves. Leaves tend to hold moisture and oil, leaving stains on the concrete. Also, make it a habit to sweep your driveway at least once a week in order to remove anything that could leave a stain behind.
While you’re sweeping, it’s a good idea to check your driveway for oil spots. Any drop of oil needs to be scrubbed off of the driveway immediately. Finally, make an appointment to have your driveway pressure-washed at least once a year. While sweeping and spot removal help, dirt and debris can also collect in hairline cracks in the surface of the driveway. Water is absorbed into this dirt and can freeze during the winter, making these cracks wider. In order to remove this dirt, the driveway has to be pressure-washed. If you live in an area with a cold climate, be sure to schedule the pressure-washing at least one month before the first freeze so that the driveway has ample time to dry.
